Octopus NET SX8 - certified SAT> IP, unicast, and multicast streaming server (MPTS) with 8 tuners... more
Octopus NET SX8 - certified SAT> IP, unicast, and multicast streaming server (MPTS) with 8 tuners for DVB-S/S2/S2X.
The Octopus NET SL series and its hardware is a SAT> IP 1.2.2 streaming server certified by SES for your home network for use with RTSP-capable players and SAT> IP clients, which are primarily used as apps, software, or hardware clients. The server does the same with the distribution of DVB signals during installation and control via RTP | UDP multicast is used as a TV IP head station. All you need is a compatible SAT> IP hardware client or software, e.g. in the form of an app or PC software. Even simple players can use RTSP streaming, such as the all-round VLC® player, or powerful TV software such as DVBViewer® or VDR®.
Features:
- HDTV reception - 1080p
- Single cable operation: JESS Unicable II (EN50607), Unicable I (EN50494)
- SAT> IP standard: 1.2.2
- Network: 5 port GigaBit switch
- Connection: via LAN
- Type of reception (de): DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-S2X
- Tuner: 8
- CI Slot: 2x Common Interface (Optional)
The proven technology in a new design
The SL series and the V2 series became the same hardware components. The new housing north more and passive cooling of the server, also in employment. The mainboard of the Octopus NET, which is powered by a narrow Linux operating system with our open-source SAT> IP service, becomes a stable streaming engine through a high-performance FPGA processor. In this way, it may be possible that you are at a maximum tender of up to 12 streams that do not contain 500% of the latency times.
With each server, you are available for a 5-port gigabit switch so that additional devices can be found in the network
Flexible, modular, and exchangeable
Your Octopus NET is of course equipped with digital devices. A second number and a tuner can be used, you can easily swap or remove the tuners of the server with a card from the Max series or DuoFlex series. Thanks to this modular structure, you remain flexible with disabled rights, exchanging the tuner hardware or converting to other types of reception.
The tuners of the Octopus NET SX8
The Octopus NET has 8 tuners that can be used for different types of reception:
- DVB-S (satellite tuner)
- DVB-S2 (satellite tuner)
- DVB-S2X (Satellite Tuner) Full APSK and MIS support
Up to 8 correct internal tuners (front ends) can be set up via the 4 SAT inputs of the Octopus NET. The full spectrum method, also known as FBC (Full Band Capture), is used for this. It is foreseen that the connection will be made available, which you can use in the web interface:
"Quad" multiswitch emulation
Connection of a Quad-LNB or 4 multi-switch outputs for the reception of a satellite. The number of tuners available is 8x DVB-S/S2/S2X. Attempts are made after 4 cables from the LNB or multiswitch. A DiSEqC control for receiving participants is not possible in this mode.
"Quattro" multiswitch emulation
Connection to a Quattro LNB or 4 trunk outputs of a multi-switch for receiving a satellite. The number of tuners available is 8x DVB-S/S2/S2X. Attempts are made after 4 cables from the LNB or multiswitch. A DiSEqC control for receiving participants is not possible in this mode.
Multiswitch emulation "Off"
If the internal multiswitch emulation is deactivated, an input is connected to an internal tuner (front end). The available number of tuners is 4x DVB-S/S2/S2X. There can be fewer cables in this operating mode. It is also possible to receive authorized persons in this mode using the DiSEqC control.
Single cable reception | SCR (single cable routing)
If single-cable reception is possible, the Octopus NET server will work with Unicable®* or JESS® | Unicable II** support function. When using Unicable® or JESS®, all 8 tuners are available. Heard in this mode. In this operating mode, you will only have 1 cable at the Unicable input for all 8 tuners, thanks to the changed multiswitch, no further splitters are heard.
Unicast streaming with SAT> IP
Thanks to the RTSP (real-time streaming protocol), you will receive the live TV signal in the order of the home network at home or e.g. in actual hotels via LAN or WLAN, regardless of whether SD, HD or UHD. In the unicast process, the number of previously usable customers is the number of tuners installed. From the simplified media player with RTSP support to software products such as DVBViewer® or SAT> IP apps to hardware clients such as Panasonic® televisions with SAT> IP service (TV> IP). With the help of our OctopusCast software, you can create M3U playlists in no time at all or you can access them by accessing DMS servers in the network and customer clients with media player functions.
Multicast streaming with SAT> IP
As a multicast streaming server via the RTP or UDP protocol, the Octopus-NET streams with MPTS technology. This makes it possible to listen to one or more senders or even entire transponders with just one stream and tuner. MPTS compatible clients like Panasonic® televisions can belong in this way with a large number and channels.

SAT> IP Server with CI Support ****
As the only SAT> IP server with integrated CI support available on the market, encrypted streams can also be decrypted directly in the server in advance with certain software clients or any RTSP compatible player using an extended option in the RTSP request. (Attention! For the variant with CI slot, please select the following in the variant selection "mit Twin CI")
Delivery
1x Octopus NET SL SX8 (Network Tuner, 5-Port Switch, Housing, DD-TV Available Online)
1x Integrated DD Max SX8
1x External Power Supply (EU Plug)
* Unicable® requirement: Unicable®/SCR/CENELEC EN50494 compliant LNB or multiswitch according to EN50494
** JESS® requirement: Jess®/CENELEC EN50607 compliant LNB or multi-switch according to EN50607
*** Note: Please note the information on compatibility in the respective app stores
**** According to SAT> IP specification, there is no server-side CI support. The expansion of the Octopus NET server with a CI slot is a separate expansion based on the SAT> IP protocol. This extension currently only works with software clients where the manufacturer/developer has added a corresponding integration in their software. A SAT> IP capable television or SetTop Box (hardware client) cannot handle the CI in the Octopus NET so far. Decrypting several services from different transponders (MTD - Multi Transponder Decrypting) is not possible with the Octopus NET systems. The decryption of several channels of a transponder (SDT - Single Transponder Decrypting) is possible in multicast mode. STD is technically possible for unicast operation, but there is no practical implementation for the decryption of several services by the offered clients with CI support for the Octopus NET. In principle, in unicast mode, clients that support the Octopus NET's CI can request a service (channel) per tuner and CI slot for decryption. When using several CI slots/CA modules, multiple decryptions is possible according to the number of CIs used. When using different decryption systems, there is no automatic assignment to the corresponding CA module, the assignment with different encryption methods over several CA modules can usually be managed by the client.
